We will not stop nicotine products crackdown

The Ministry of Health now says it will not slow down on its push to have nicotine products off the shelves as it vows to continue with a crackdown.

According to public health and professional standards PS Mary Muthoni, manufacturers and suppliers are using their muscle to stall the process in court at the expense of Kenyans health

PS Muthoni says the court process is just but a small bump in their operations but will not deter the main aim.

Speaking in Kirinyaga county, accompanied by a host of local leaders, led by county assembly speaker Murimi Muteti, where she met community health promoters for a sensitization programme on the effects of tobacco, nicotine and electric cigarettes, PS Mary insisted on the menace created by tobacco and nicotine effects to families, more so the young ones saying it is the main reason the ministry has embarked on the crackdown.

Consequently, PS Muthoni drummed up support for the quality of care and patient safety bill that is slated for public participation from next week.

According to PS Muthoni, the bill will be key in guaranteeing patients the best out of every hospital visit they make.
