Two Mpox cases confirmed in Kangundo, Machakos county

Two Mpox cases have been confirmed in Kangundo, Machakos County.

According to the hospital’s medical superintendent, Juliet Munyao, the patients began exhibiting symptoms of the virus last Friday.

They have been placed in isolation units to prevent the spread of the disease. Samples were collected and sent to the laboratory, where test results confirmed they were infected with the Mpox virus.

Munyao reassured county residents that strict quarantine measures are in place and that the patients are receiving appropriate treatment.

The public health officer in Kangundo Subcounty, Fredrick Kimemia, has also urged residents to follow health measures to prevent the spread of this virus, while warning citizens about the symptoms of the disease in order to receive early treatment without further harm.

The Ministry of Health has intensified surveillance and response efforts, including contact tracing and public awareness campaigns.
