Operation Ondoa Jangili: Murkomen says 300 crime suspects apprehended, 200 firearms seized

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has stated that Operation Ondoa Jangili, aimed at dismantling criminal groups in Isiolo and Marsabit counties, has significantly contributed to restoring peace in a region that has long been troubled by violence.

“The operation has thwarted several criminal activities and curbed the proliferation of small arms,” the CS remarked.

The multi-agency team is currently tackling issues related to illegal mining, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and cross-border incursions.

Murkomen made the comments during a press briefing at Marsabit Police Station, where he received a progress report on the operation.

The police showcased arms and drugs that were either recovered or surrendered during the operation.

“The operation has recovered more than 200 arms and resulted in the arrest of more than 300 suspects, many of whom have been charged,” the CS noted.

He added: “The war on drug trafficking has netted 286 foreign nationals. The operation is ongoing, and our multi-agency teams remain vigilant to apprehend criminals and bring lasting peace to the region.”

Additionally, the CS announced that 600 National Police Reservists (NPRs) have been hired to bolster the operation.
