Steer clear of casual conversations regarding KDF – Ruto

President William Ruto today urged all Kenyans to avoid casual discussions about the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). Ruto reiterated that KDF should be allowed to carry out its mandate without unnecessary interference.

In light of recent criticism directed at Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, for his remarks on the apolitical nature of the military and the need for political transitions to strictly adhere to constitutional mechanisms, the head of state underscored the importance of not politicizing the military’s role in national development.

“I urge all Kenyans – leaders, politicians, and journalists alike – that our military men and women are the anchor of our stability and the insurance for our development. We must be sensitive and keep off matters military in random talk,” he warned.

Ruto, who led the Cadets Commissioning Parade at the Kenya Military Academy in Lanet, Nakuru, affirmed that his administration will continue to provide KDF with the support it needs to serve the nation. He stressed that their contributions to Kenya’s development cannot be overstated and that KDF deserves only praise for their efforts.

“My administration and myself as Commander-in-Chief, will defend our military by all means possible, as they guarantee our stability and development,” he said.

According to President Ruto, national prosperity is built on the pillars of peace, good governance, and inclusive development.

“Our defence forces are key to upholding these values. Their presence ensures stability, attracts investment, and inspires both national and global confidence,” he stated.

“I thank the Kenya Defence Forces for their unwavering commitment. Through loyalty, discipline, and professionalism, they have safeguarded our diverse communities, affirming Kenya as a sanctuary of peaceful coexistence,” President Ruto added.
