Ruto gives Ksh20M to city church, says he’s unapologetic about giving

President William Ruto has defended his continued donations to churches, stating that he is a product of giving and has always made such contributions in obedience to scripture.

Speaking during a church service at the Jesus Winner Ministry in Roysambu, presided over by Bishop Edward Mwai, Ruto questioned why a section of the clergy criticized his donations, even rejecting them, when the offering was meant for God, not man.

He went on to donate Ksh 20 million towards the church’s construction project.

“I am a product of giving to God, and I’m unapologetic about it. I do so on the firm foundation of the scriptures,” he said.

Amid applause, he promised to return to the church for an upcoming fundraiser.

Last year, the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi rejected a cash donation made by the President and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja during a church service at Soweto Catholic Church.
