First Lady Rachel Ruto Attends ‘We Are Equal Campaign’ Launch in Zanzibar
The First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, attended the We Are Equal campaign launch with The Organisation of African First Ladies for Development in Zanzibar.
The #WeAreEqual campaign, led by Africa’s First Ladies, seeks to unite them and spark transformational change in education, health, gender-based violence, and women’s economic empowerment.
The launch combined a morning walk with a medical camp organised by the Zanzibar Maisha Bora Foundation under the patronage of Mariam Mwinyi, the First Lady of Zanzibar.
Mama Rachel Ruto lauded Mariam Mwinyi’s focus, which closely aligns with our Kenyan campaign, which equally prioritises mothers and children as central to transforming households and the wider community.
“Kenya has selected nutrition as the vehicle for driving our campaign. We are working with public primary schools to achieve the country’s Universal School Feeding Goal of 10 million school meals by 2030.” First Lady Rachel said.
This sustainable approach will involve collaboration with government actors, non-governmental organisations, and development partners to develop the capacity of public primary schools to grow food for consumption.
