Baloch Community Protests Enforced Disappearances on Eid » Capital News
Apr 12 – While Pakistan marked Eid on Wednesday, the Baloch community staged nationwide protests, spotlighting enforced disappearances and other injustices.
In various parts of Balochistan province, women and children joined large anti-Army rallies, chanting “Baloch demands Justice.” The Baloch Student Council Islamabad protested against enforced disappearances and discrimination faced by Baloch students in Punjab and Islamabad institutions, citing cases where students left studies due to human rights violations.
Prominent Baloch leader Sammi Deen Baloch, via social media, emphasized the protests, stating families of missing persons in Islamabad, Karachi, and Balochistan are rallying against state-sponsored human rights violations. As Eid was celebrated globally, Balochis took to the streets to voice their grievances.
The President of Baloch Voice Association, based in Paris, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the demand for freedom and the safe release of enforced disappearance victims by the Pakistani military. Earlier, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) and social leaders like Mahrang Baloch urged Balochistan residents to join Eid protests to raise awareness about the community’s plight.
These protests aim to provide a platform for dissent and shed light on the challenges faced by the Baloch community under Pakistani administration.
