NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 12 — Eight buffaloes were fatally electrocuted on Friday following contact with low-lying power lines in Nakuru.
Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) said the incident occurred near Wildlife Clubs of
Kenya (WCK) in Lake Nakuru National Park.
“The unfortunate incident occurred after the buffaloes came into contact with high
voltage power lines lying low on the ground,” the agency reported.
KWS said it contacted Kenya Power who confirmed the incident which the utility firm blamed on broken wooden cross arms carrying thirty-three high-voltage power lines.
The firm attributed the situation to heavy rains in the area committing to find a metallic replacement for the wooden cross arms.
