Gov’t disburses Ksh3.32B for varsity students’ upkeep
The government has released Ksh3.32 billion to support university students’ upkeep, with first and second-year learners benefiting from the funds disbursed through the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba announced that the funds, allocated for the 2024/2025 academic year, had been disbursed by January 31.
The CS said each student will receive between Ksh40,000 and Ksh60,000.
“The latest disbursements are part of the funds that had already been appropriated in July, 2024, in the context of the current Financial Year’s budgetary and appropriation framework,” Ogamba stated.
