Ruto: We will confound naysayers, Kenya will not fail

President William Ruto has exuded confidence in government’s ability to deliver on its transformative agenda.

Speaking at the Ministerial Performance Contract Signing at State House Nairobi, Ruto said his administration will not be distracted from fulfilling its promises to Kenyans.

“I promise you we will confound the naysayers, we will succeed. This country will not fail, this great nation that God has given us will succeed. The enemies of Kenya will be put to shame because we are going to succeed and take this country forward,” said Ruto

However, he stressed the need for synergy across all government agencies noting that the failure of one sector impacts the entire government.

“The failure of one sector of government affects the overall performance of government. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we build the necessary momentum and synergy so that we can succeed together,” he stated.

The head of state said his administration is undertaking major reforms in education, food security, housing, and health sectors to confront challenges facing Kenyans.

He pledged to resolve long-standing funding gaps in education at a time when the new university funding model is facing challenges.

“For a very long time close to 15-20 years, we haven’t thought with clarity about our education and the funding of our education. We have decided this time round to bite the bullet and sort out the funding in our education sector and provide clarity on the education of our children,” he said.

The President reaffirmed his commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to address gaps in healthcare access for all Kenyans.

He further noted that the government has put in measures aimed at reducing dependency on imports of food products including maize and sugar.

“For a very long time, we have imported food in Kenya when we have the capacity to produce enough. This year, by God’s grace, we will not import some of the food products, including maize,” he said.
