Kamomoe, Ng’ang’a installed Auxiliary Bishops of Nairobi Archbishops » Capital News
NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 6 — Reverend Fathers Peter Kamomoe and Wallace Ng’ang’a have been installed as Auxillary Bishops of Nairobi following appointments by Pope Francis in February.
The two were appointed by Pope Francis in a move aimed at bolstering pastoral and administrative capacities within the Archdiocese.
The ceremony was conducted at St Mary’s Msongari ground and was graced by Archbishop Hubertus van Megen, the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya.
The two new Bishops will be the direct assistance of Nairobi Archbishop Phillip Anyolo.
Megen termed the ordination a rare experience outside Rome praising Nairobi for experiencing the scenario twice.
In the year 2000, two other Bishops were also ordained together, Bishop David Kamau and Ireri Mukobo, who were also present at Saturday’s installation.
“Even at the level of a universal Church, you might speak of a special day today. Indeed it rarely happens outside of Rome that two Bishops are ordained at the same time,” Megen remarked.
“And yesterday evening when we were still at the Basilica it was Bishop Anyolo who mentioned that for Nairobi it is not that all unique because, in the year 2000, we had two other bishops that were ordained together,” he added.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, National Assembly Moses Wetangula, Nairobi County Governor, Johnson Sakaja, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha grace the event.
