Kisumu Revenue Board Applauds Boda Boda Leaders for Tax Cooperation » Capital News
KISUMU, Kenya Apr 5 – Kisumu County Revenue Board (KCRB) has commended boda boda leaders for facilitating revenue remittance, marking a significant shift from past challenges.
Chairman Dr. Hezron Makobewa praised the cooperative efforts, highlighting a new era of collaboration resulting in smoother revenue collection processes.
“Through engagement at all levels, including county, sub-county, and ward levels, we’ve achieved consensus,” Dr. Makobewa states, citing a recent collection of Sh38,000 in Kisumu Central.
Effective from the 1st of this month, riders now remit Sh300 monthly, amounting to Sh10 daily. Dr. Makobewa underscores the voluntary adoption of cashless payment systems and a willingness to comply.
Previous disputes over a higher fee of Sh. 500/month under the previous administration hindered progress, but the revised fee was ratified by the county assembly.
Moving forward, KCRB said it plans to intensify awareness campaigns among riders, emphasizing the benefits of timely revenue remittance.
Governor Anyang Nyong’o’s commitment to leveraging own-source revenue for development initiatives underscores the significance of this progress. Enhanced service delivery in healthcare, infrastructure, and education awaits if revenue is consistently remitted.
The focus remains on fostering a culture of compliance for sustainable development and improved public services in Kisumu County.
