Actress Winnie Bwire To Be Laid to Rest Today

Winnie Bwire Ndubi will be laid to rest today in her hometown of Mumias, Kakamega County. Known for her role as ‘Dida’ in the drama series Sultana, Bwire was battling metastatic breast cancer.

She succumbed to the illness on Thursday, September 5, 2024, while receiving treatment in Turkey. The sad news of her passing was announced the same day by her family:

“It is with heavy hearts and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce Winfred Bwire Ndubi lost her battle with cancer on September 5, 2024, while undergoing treatment in Turkey. We thank you all for your overwhelming support, prayers, and generous giving during her treatment. We will share more details in due course.”

Days later, her body was airlifted to Kenya. A memorial and candlelit vigil were held in Mombasa. Yesterday, her body was airlifted to Kisumu before being transported by road to Kakamega.

She will be laid to rest today in Mumias, Kakamega County.
