DJ Evolve shares his biggest highlight since being shot in 2021

In 2020 Kenyan DJ Felix Orinda famously known as DJ Evolve was shot at a club he was working in at the time.

The incident left him bedridden for years, having to rely on others for assistance.

In a recent video by Youtuber Brian Muchiri who is also a spine injury victim after being involved in a road accident years ago, Kenyans were shown a glimpse of the changes Evolve has had over the years.

Among them is being able to talk.

During the visit to Brian’s home, Evolve was able to try new things among them sitting on the grass, riding a bicycle (specialized for people with disabilities)

During the interaction, Evolve expressed his joy at being able to do things he thought he would never be able to do.

“The last time I sat down (on the grass) was being this (the shooting.)

You have shown me there are ways to get back when you are down.

Sitting on the grass was the highlight of the day. I did not think I had the strength to hold my neck in that position.

I found out a lot about myself today that I was not aware of. We should do this more often.” Stated Evolve

Brian on the other hand expressed his joy at being able to spend time with Evolve saying

“It was refreshing to see someone who is like me (on a wheelchair)

The only difference is that you (Evolve) are two years older than me.”

DJ Evolve was shot on January 17, 2020, leaving him confined to a wheelchair. In January this year (2024), he reflected on that day four years ago:

“On this day, four years ago, God showed up for me, and He has been walking this journey with me ever since. I kept ignoring my alarm, but eventually, I had to go around 4 a.m. because I kept getting calls. I really didn’t want to go that night.”

He added, “Nothing is promised; it is also impossible. Just keep going. We wouldn’t be having this conversation if it wasn’t for God.”
