Former Presidential aspirant Mohamed Abduba Dida is currently serving a 7-year prison sentence in the United States.
Dida was sentenced in November 2022 for stalking and intimidating an unidentified person in McLean County, Illinois.
During the trial, Dida faced two charges: stalking and transmitting threats, and aggravated stalking with a violation of a restraining order.
He received a 2-year sentence for the first offense and a 7-year sentence for the second.
The former teacher and presidential candidate, who gained national attention in 2013 when he ran against Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta, has been incarcerated at the Big Muddy River Correctional Center since November 2022.
He is scheduled for release on April 3, 2029. It remains unclear whether Dida had relocated to the U.S. or was there on a visit when he was arrested for these crimes.
