DCI breaks silence on reports Davido detained at JKIA
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dismissed reports of the detention of Nigerian superstar David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.
A local news outlet had reported that the Afrobeats singer was detained at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after drugs were found on his private jet.
However, the report turned out to be false, a fact confirmed by the DCI through their official social media pages on Monday morning.
“Fake news,” DCI stated regarding the news report.
Investigators also attached their statement to a screenshot of the headline “Davido detained at JKIA after Ksh18m cocaine stash found on his private jet.”
In the screenshot, they stamped a cautionary alert of ‘Fake News.’
The newsroom that published the story later clarified that it was merely a joke intended for April Fool’s Day.
Contrary to the false reports, Davido delivered an electrifying performance at the Raha Fest concert held at Uhuru Gardens over the weekend.
The Nigerian star arrived at the concert venue on Saturday evening with tight security, and his convoy made its way to the stage as fans clamored to catch a glimpse of him.
Davido surprised the audience by inviting Kenyan star Bien Aime as a special guest to perform with him, eliciting joyful cheers from the crowd.
The energy from the crowd was unmatched, with fans describing the event as unforgettable.
