NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 27 – Kenya’s former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has vowed to make African Union a more people-focused body, prioritizing the continent’s interests if elected to the top position.

Raila’s candidature was formally launched at State House, Nairobi on Tuesday, attended by at least five Heads of State, former presidents and prime ministers from various African countries.

They include Kenya’s William Ruto, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Salva Kiir of South Sudan, Samia Suluhu of Tanzania, former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo (Nigeria), Jakaya Kikwete (Tanzania) among others.

“I will make African Union more people-centred to align with the vision of your excelencies if elected to this position,” Raila said.
