KFS denies Oloolua forest land grabbing claims

The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has denied claims that part of Oloolua Forest in Kajiado County has been grabbed.

In a statement on X, KFS said no individual had been allocated land within the forest.

A section of politicians from the county had claimed that about 50 acres of the key forest in Karen/Ngong is in the process of being grabbed sparking protests by the local community.

“Following public concerns regarding the alleged grabbing of a parcel of Oloolua Forest in Kajiado County, L.R no. 23269, Kenya Forest Service seeks to make a clarification on the matter. The portion of land in question is currently occupied by four government agencies. There is absolutely no individual who has been allocated land within Oloolua forest” KFS said.

While dismissing the reports as misleading, KFS urged anyone with evidence to present the same to the nearest police station for investigation.

“The ownership of the parcel of land remains under the jurisdiction of Kenya Forest Service. Any insinuation to the contrary is misleading and meant to create confusion and dissent among members of the public” the statement read.

The Service reiterated its commitment to protect the forest.

“ The Service will ensure Oloolua Forest will continue to be safeguarded as a natural resource for posterity and the benefit of all”.
