Police Officer Shoots Himself Dead In Laikipia » Capital News
NAIROBI, Kenya Mar 30 – Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have initiated investigations into the death of a police officer who took his own life.
The deceased, identified as Constable Andrew Miranyi Gati, stationed at Magutu Police Post, was found dead in his residence in Laikipia County, having apparently shot himself with a G3 Rifle.
Preliminary reports from the police indicate that Gati fatally shot himself in the lower left chin, resulting in the bullet exiting above his left ear.
The firearm, along with 19 rounds of ammunition, was recovered from the scene by responding officers from Umande Police Station.
While the motive behind Constable Gati’s actions remains unclear, the incident underscores a concerning trend within law enforcement agencies.
At least three suicide cases involving police officers are recorded monthly, prompting increased attention to mental health support within the force.
