NAIROBI, KENYA, Mar 29- Tourism Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has unveiled plans for cable car development along Lake Victoria, linking Namenya Hills in Budalangi.
He revealed this during a meeting with Busia County Governor Paul Otuoma, affirming government collaboration with investors for the project.
Mutua emphasized its potential to boost infrastructural progress in the county. Despite Busia’s tourism potential, infrastructure and marketing challenges persist. The government aims to explore cruise ship investment to further enhance tourism.
Mutua also pledged ministry support for cultural activities and the construction of Teso Hills viewpoints. He expressed enthusiasm for supporting events like boat racing and wrestling to catalyze tourism in Busia, aiming for regional recognition.
“I’m delighted to announce that the ministry of will support boat racing, and wrestling among other activities in Busia as our initial contribution to kick-start tourism initiatives in the county. Our aim, with the ministry’s assistance, is to elevate this annual event to regional status,” the Tourism CS said on his social media account.
The introduction of cable cars along Lake Victoria represents a significant step forward in the development of Busia County’s tourism infrastructure.
