NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 19 – Six suspects charged with the 2013 murder of former Juja Member of Parliament George Thuo have been found guilty.
According to justice Roselyne Korir, this is after the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that indeed the accused caused the death of the former MP.
Justice Korir found from that accordnig to the evidence, Wainaina,Lumbasio,Karanja and Ngugi had a drink with the late MP at Porkies club on 17th November 2013 and they sat together on the same table.
The fifth accused person Mulinge was a waitress who served them with the drinks, whereas Irungu had bought a drink to the late MP as a matter of being a good friend.
The Court further found that the late Thuo died of poisoning, as some particles were found in the bottle of a beer which he took and the same particles were also found in his liver and stomach as demonstrated by medical experts.
Justice Korir gave the probation officers seven days to compile and file a pre sentencing report and the same be served upon the defence counsels.
The judge further directed the prosecution to file a response to the application by the defence seeking to have the accused released on bond pending sentencing.
The sentencing has now been set for May 3.
