NAIROBI, Kenya, March 5 – Five suspects linked to a series of robberies have been arrested in Nairobi following a security operation.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations said the suspects are accused of stealing approximately Sh900,000 and USD15,000 from a businessman in Nairobi’s South C area two weeks ago.

The victim, distressed by the incident, reported to the Akila Police Station in Lang’ata, recounting that he had parked his BMW X1 along Muhoho Road, opposite Rubis Petrol Station.

After entering an auto parts shop briefly, he returned to his vehicle to discover a smashed rear window and his bag, containing the money, missing.

Upon further investigation, the victim received notification of Sh40,000 withdrawn from his KCB account and an additional Sh40,000 from the DTB account at an ATM in Embakasi.

Assisted by the Operations Unit, detectives arrested the initial suspect, identified through nearby CCTV footage breaking into the victim’s vehicle.

The footage also captured the second and third suspects acting as lookouts while the first suspect broke the car window using a catapult.
