4 suspects in Koimburi’s alleged abduction freed on Ksh 300,000 bail
Four suspects linked to the alleged abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi have been released on a cash bail of Ksh300,000 each, even as investigations into the incident continue.
The suspects were arraigned in court Friday Morning following their arrest in connection with the controversial incident, in which police allege that the abduction was staged for political mileage.
Among those arrested is Murang’a Kanyenyaini Ward MCA Grace Nduta Wairimu, who remains a person of interest in the case.
She was taken into custody on May 29, 2025, a day after detectives recovered a Subaru Forester believed to have been used in the alleged abduction.
According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), digital and CCTV evidence placed Grace Nduta at a popular entertainment joint in Kiganjo, Gatundu South, alongside Koimburi on the night of the alleged abduction—contradicting her claims of being in Kangema for church services and political events.
DCI officers said Koimburi, who was later admitted to Karen Hospital in Nairobi, has declined to give a statement to the police.
Investigators had earlier sought 15 days to detain the suspects as they pieced together the motive behind the incident.
So far, five people have recorded statements with the police
