4 bodies of suspected flood victims retrieved from Nairobi River
NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 24 – Four bodies of suspected flood victims have been recovered from Mathare River following heavy rains witnessed in Nairobi on Tuesday night.
Speaking after meeting with leaders from Mathare and Ruaraka, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja the search and recovery teams are trying to retrieve the bodies of 6 other bodies.
The County Governor estimates some 60,000 people mostly women and children in Nairobi have been severely affected following devastating flash floods which hit the city.
Kibra, Lindi, Mathare 4A and Mathare North, Baba Dogo, Githurai and Zimmerman are among residential areas, Sakaja said have been adversely affected.
