12 dead in grisly Nithi accident after head-on collision

Twelve people,ten adults and two minors have perished this evening in a grisly road accident at Nithi.

A Toyota Hiace, which was using a climbing lane while descending, had a head-on collision with a Toyota Hilux, killing all the passengers in the Hiace and its driver.

The Toyota Hiace was traveling to Nairobi from a ceremony in Nkubu, while the Hilux was transporting beans toward Meru when they collided head-on.

Police Commander Zacheaus Ng’eno has confirmed the incident and cautioned drivers against using the opposite lanes while approaching Nithi Bridge.

The accident also involved two other vehicles. A Toyota Sienta heading to Chuka lost its brakes and collided with an already parked Mount Kenya Milk lorry that had broken down at the scene.
